A fine book is that Champ! Have you read Pool of the Black Witch? Just up your street with sea trout in mind!! TTFN Dickie

Dickie, I discovered your delightful blog today and keep coming back to read a bit more at every opportunity. In another life, I was engaged to a boy from Bridport :) Very fond memories of summers in Dorset.

I wonder if you are familiar with the books of Robert Gibbings? Wonderful stories along with his exquisite woodcuts.

Also, although you tend to avoid fly fishing books, may I suggest this one; I think you would enjoy it:

I've never been fly fishing but I've read this three times!

Thank you for brightening a particularly dim and drizzly afternoon here in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

All best wishes

Polly

How lovely to hear from you Polly! Thanks so much for the recommendations - The Earth is Enough sounds perfect. I have added to my list.
I love Gibbings and as luck would have it picked up a copy of his wood engravings book last week. As with so many "things" it was just waiting to be found.
I doubt Bridport has changed too much since your last visit - why so many like it I guess! Thanks again and all good wishes from a cold and very sunny Bridport, Dickie
