The last cast

A few images from my end of season flurry last week. A super few days on the Wiltshire Ebble and Dorset Stour. One of the highlights being the ball of Starlings swarming during the day to dive bomb a flock of Dorset Down sheep - never seen that before, the noise was incredible. My poor shot not doing the scene justice. Fine fishing by myself, with good friends and thoughts of friends much missed. A short piscatorial interlude now before the mackerel and trout season.

That's another one over Dickie and I've got say that it was my best season for years. No doubt next season will be a catastrophe. Anglers, ever the optimist. That little river at No.3 looks lovely, Trout and Grayling must be in that clear water.

Are you up here in the summer?

All the best, John

Indeed, you are right John...trout and grayling do frequent that glide! One of my quietest seasons ever due to other "stuff", but already looking forward to sea trout in a few weeks and then the mackerel! The joy of angling - you have had a corker.....that perch!! Very much looking forward to our Norfolk foray in the summer - terrible creatures of habit, but we love it up there....good old fashioned holiday. Kids love it just as much as we do - TTFN, Dickie

Oh no! I did that once, but in my thumb - miles from anywhere and anyone, ended up just cutting it out and supping a hip flask of cider brandy! Like a Hammer Horror film - hope you are OK now - good to see you too, TTFN Dickie
