I know someone one who did have a tank ariel rod. I was given a rod of whole, not split cane with a see through solid glass tip. I shamefully hated it but one day used it in great dudgeon in the shadow of the sails of Horsey Mill on a family picnic and caught a fabulous jewel of a roach. At about half a pound it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
